Origins update
30 June 2006 21:08I'm at Origins. Feeling strangely disconnected from the event, unable to find anything gaming-related to do that would be enjoyable. Instead, it's all about socializing, which has always been a large part of it, but usually I can at least find interesting games to demo in the dealer's room.
I try to relax, drift into things, let go of my preconceptions about myself and see where I am pulled. The result, though, is that I go nowhere. The only few purchases I've made are all Lovecraftian fiction, not even games that I could play.
I did pick up a few Ars Magicka books, but only because I remember liking it and the deal was just too good to pass up (everything that's been published since I last looked into it for $35 - the new rules, two location sourcebooks and a rules expansion book). Titan Games was offering a Buy One, Get Three Free deal.
Big Bar On Two is playing Party Like It's 1999. Another odd note in this sensation, because I want to geek out like I did back in '99. Back when I found this stuff fun.
I'm burnt out on gaming. If it's not photography, it holds no real interest to me. I'm thinking that maybe I should start volunteering, give something back to the community if I can't actually find anything enjoyable to do here.
I've got some good quotes in my memo recorder that I ought to upload, but even that holds no real interest right now. I'll wait until I get back. Right now, I need to find something that holds some kind of appeal. This will probably involve rum, and hopefully a pick-up game of some kind.
