I dreamt that Achingly Defiant was visiting me at my parents' house, the home of my youth. She rummaged through drawers and cabinets, and I made a study of not reaching out to her. She asked me questions, and I responded with monosyllabic grunts. We watched a movie, sitting on opposite couches, until she could stand the silence no longer.

We entered a library and began browsing books. I found a copy of a children's book called Peter Cottonwood and the Forest of [something].

"I didn't know there were sequels," I said.
AD simply replied, "Read it."
"I never read the first one." I began scanning the shelves for the original book. AD told me to check the card catalog, and then went back to her own search.

I scanned the shelves.

"It'll be faster and easier if you check the catalog." She went to check the card catalog, and I reluctantly joined her. We found an entry for the book I'd found, saying it was in a different building. A man behind a desk told us the system was out of date and inaccurate. "Nobody uses that stuff anymore."

"It has to be here somewhere. Help me!" I grabbed her by the arm and pulled her towards my shelves.

"You're hurting me."

"I need your help."

And then Angel's voice echoed throughout my universe. "Let her go!" It boomed across the library, and for a fleeting instant, I understood something, and then I awoke, drenched in sweat and breathing hard.

AD's Goodbye Pittsburgh party is tonight. If I left now, I could get there before the party even properly kicked off. But there's a contest I want to submit to, and [Big Scary Thing] is tomorrow. My life is waiting for me, and I don't have time to say goodbye one more time.

I switched CDs out of my alarm clock and randomly selected a new track. So now instead of waking every morning to Tom Wait's The House Where Nobody Lives, today  I woke to the sounds of The Blues Brothers singing Everybody Needs Somebody. The irony is not lost on me.

New Erotic photos are on my website and will be posted in my Photo journal, [livejournal.com profile] amuls_photos, in a second.
