Does anybody here own an mp3 player that isn't an iPod?

(f)AD is thinking about getting one, and wants to consider options. I haven't heard of any that could be considered better than the iPod.

I have a Zen Micro, it's only a 6gb but, it doesn't leave the house, and I don't need it to do anything other than play music for me when I'm working. =)

I have a Creative Zen Touch 40GB. I like the solid, boxy reliability of the Creative players as opposed to the froofy plasticality of the iPod. It also has nearly 24 hours of battery life.

I've had a 40 gig Zen Creative Jukebox for three years, and it's been great.

I have a tiny little iBulldog. It only holds 512Mb, but it's barely larger than a single AA battery (which is what it runs on). The downside is that it blows through that battery fairly quickly (I go through one AA or two old recharged AAs in a day at work), but I don't know how that compares to the iPod. The upside is, it was much more affordable than the iPod, at least a year ago when I got it.

Yeah, Creative's Zen series of players seeems to be more relaible and sturdier than the iPod. Plus its freindlier to multipule formats and players than the newer iPods

I have an ipod nano and I just love the little thing. I had a Creative a long time ago that I bought as a test to see if I'd actually use the technology before investing in my old big ipod. We haven't seen an undisputed best of breed consumer technolgy like the ipod come out since what, the Sony Walkman? I wouldn't discount the ipod. Great marketing can only go so far. It's a good tool on its own without the jazzy commercials.

I got a Creative Zen. I really liked it, but the screen died on me within 2 weeks. I sent it back, and 2 months later I still don't have my replacement, though that's more Best Buy's fault.
