The Yoruba civilization, which existed somewhere in modern-day Nigeria, have a creation myth which involves their gods descending from heaven on thick iron chains. The parallel between them and The King In Chains, from Archetyped!, is striking to me and I need to research them further.
For some reason, I decided that the best way to look into this involved doing the research from my corner coffeehouse - Metropolis, only to be distracted by the informational meeting they're having about the coffee farms they get their produce from: not just Free Trade and Organic, but leaders in Sustainability efforts," which is a hippy trend I haven't heard before.

I have this idea in my head for another short story -- a transhumanist transcription of a pre-historical myth, sort of thing. The story would be told from the view point of a culture which has connected their brains directly to a worldwide computer network, but the actual story content would be set in a pre-historical culture.
Phrases like "lacking a more efficient method of communication, these villagers had to communicate with each at distances which allowed audio signal to be received without severe signal degradation."
Dammit, I've been at this coffee house for three hours and I still haven't finished reading the first chapter of this exam material that I should have finished last week.
