old habits
8 March 2006 00:54On the phone with Priceless Pearl.
How vastly different from my new life, to sit still, to listen. To remember all the little things about this girl I've known over half my life.
We've spent an hour screaming remonstrations at each other, both of us finally admitting how deeply abandoned by the other we've felt.
We're talking, now. Like old friends do.
To her, I keep the only promise I still have from my childhood. It's broken, chipped and scuffed, crazy glued together a hundred times. It is nothing like the bright and shining Oath I made, over half my life ago.
But I am still here. Still by her side, as much as I am able.
