Edit: Also, my jasmine tree is budding again. This means something.

Somehow, amidst all the talking to people and meeting old friends and *calmly* accepting my parents' presence, I completely forgot to take pictures of the event.

Alex Ellerman stopped by, whom I haven't seen since high school. He's grown up just into the man I always suspected he would, but suddenly I wonder if it's wise to spend time with a guy like that.

I still can't quite decide what to call the glint that found it's way into heathergalaxy's & lapinova's eyes, or what was exchanged in the glances between them when I offered to introduce them to my parents. I felt like such a dumb high school kid, introducing everyone to them.

It's been a strange day, the horrible disaster I discovered this morning, followed by the extra work-out with the personal trainer my brother set me up with (I may start kick-boxing). The much-needed phone call with mycatsellsclues followed by the strange IM chat with Apple Martini followed by the opening. Dinner with my parents preceded a late night photo shoot with two friends I don't know a quarter as much as I'd like.

I don't know. In my head, Apple Martini raises an eyebrow and asks, "More reassurance?"

Yes, please.

As I tried to explain last night, it's a question of debts and balances owed. You've heard all my sad stories, watched me struggle with choices I didn't want to make. Through it all you've remained true to yourself and been an honest friend. You showed me what sanity looks and feels like. I call myself a social creature, and that means my successes are owed to my friendships as much as my efforts.

Had you come, I would not have raised a glass in your honor, but we could have sipped wine at the same time, and quietly toasted all manners of success.
