Outside the box #4: What's With that Emo User Pic?

One day while visiting my Moonhowler Friends up in Milwaukee, Thorn Chain decided to try out this new type of glitter body paint by filling in the lines of my tattoo. She snapped a picture of the result.

(caveat: The rest is only what I think happened, I don't actually remember, but the timing is about right)
Sometime later, possibly years, I was dating (formerly) Achingly Defiant, who really disliked the user picture I had at the time. We went through the images and (iirc) it was (f)AD who cropped the selection. I think maybe I had been trying to crop just the tattoo, and (f)AD moved that cropping over to my face, and we liked that better.

There was a version which had my old high school nickname written on it, and then one with my username on it. (f)AD was really into making LJ icons, something I never had really given much thought to. She always had half an eye out for the right cropping and quantity of detail.
