We left [livejournal.com profile] soundoflight's place Wednesday and made it to Kentucky, before deciding to call it a day. Took a small detour to the Mammoth Caves and camped there for the night. Bluebeard pretty much had the camp set up before Jayda and I even got out of the car.

The two of us went out to go scrounging for wood, and after 30 minutes came back with a small pile of finger-thick branches. BB walks behind the tent and comes back five seconds later with half a tree.

We set up a hammock and a couple of chairs, sat by the fire, and listened to a horror story on audio book. BB crashed out almost immediately, but J and I stayed up talking until god only knows how late, the full moon bright and clear through the trees in the cloudless sky, looking down upon the subjects we discussed and smiling her lunar smile.

At some point, as honest conversations with me inevitably seem to these days, we talked of all the ways in which I was dissatisfied with myself. At one point, I said that I was weak-willed, still far too powerless against temptation, and she responded with shock and affront. "You're the last person I would think of as lacking willpower! You're the example I use when describing willpower to people!"

It was so terribly nice to hear, words cannot describe.

The next day, we toured the caves, ate breakfast at a place called "Pig" (still not sure if that's the name of the diner or the town), and headed to Atlanta. Among a host of others, I met this other Indian guy named Neil, a norm dragged to a good time by his friends, and we've been hanging out whenever we see each other. (Those of you who have watched me interact with Indians before can express your shock and concern now). The dude's really cool. I may give him a call the next time I'm in this area to hang out.

Con-wise, I only really had time to turn in my prints at the Art Show on Thursday, and spent the rest of the night drinking, meeting people, and indulging in some light fetish activity by the pool. Jayda and I spent most of the night within arm's reach of each other, and it was kind of cool to realize what a strong bond of friendship we'd developed.

Friday, I went to a seminar on Building Trust, and found it really enlightening in a number of ways. The methods they were talking about were directed at establishing trust between a dom & sub, novices, etc, but I found a lot of it really applicable to what happened between My Ex and I. That was cool, finding answers in a place I hadn't expected to.

The parties on Friday were kind of lame, surprisingly, and so I spent most of the night down by the pool, which is conveniently "closed for repairs" while the con is going. I still ended up staying up until four am, and found a Shibari enthusiast who taught me a few things for my diligence & decadence. I had even just bought some rope that day.

Today's been really full already. I attend a seminar on watersports, just to figure out what the hell that's all about, and found the experience pretty interesting. There was a wax demonstration that I caught the tail end of, which seemed really interesting. I wish I'd gone to that rather than indulging my curiosity. From what I saw, I could really get into the wax play on a number of levels I had never thought of before, including photographically, assuming I could find willing models.

After that, I went to the Most Spankable Ass competition, which was arousingly fun, and later on tonight there's a Masquerade Ball. I should probably get something to eat first.
