The Last Word
6 February 2007 21:41THE LAST WORD
Kent E. Gunnison
There has to be a last word spoken whenever two or more debate.
And whoever speaks that last word would be wise to hesitate.
For, so often, 'tis that last word, does more damage, than 'does good,
And always leaves the subject matter, no-better understood.
But that last word has its purpose; although a bit confusing:
Its spokesman has to speak it to avoid the spectacle of losing.
There's just something in his nature that stings him to the core:
He will not lose a battle, but blindly yields the war.
So, it's with this consideration: Having thought the matter through.
If there is ever harsh words spoken between myself, and you;
When the war of words is ending, and when that last word must be said,
I shall endeavor to be silent.... And wait for your reply, instead.
