Spring Break!

Hey, I totally forgot I had one of those school holiday things. A rare perk that goes with being a total drain on the economy.

So, three questions for you all:

1) Does anyone who reads my LJ live within a 5-12 hour drive of Chicago in a city I've never been to?

2) If so, can I come visit?

3) Does anyone in Chicago want to come with? Do you have a friend you haven't visited in a while who lives a bit of a drive from here?

I need to drive somewhere, anywhere.

Napoli says most abortions are performed for what he calls "convenience." He insists that exceptions can be made for rape or incest under the provision that protects the mother's life. I asked him for a scenario in which an exception may be invoked.

BILL NAPOLI: A real-life description to me would be a rape victim, brutally raped, savaged. The girl was a virgin. She was religious. She planned on saving her virginity until she was married. She was brutalized and raped, sodomized as bad as you can possibly make it, and is impregnated. I mean, that girl could be so messed up, physically and psychologically, that carrying that child could very well threaten her life.

FRED DE SAM LAZARO: Rounds prefers a less sweeping approach to restricting abortion; he says it would more likely pass legal muster. Still, the governor said the new law would be a good thing as a rallying cry for antiabortion forces.

*utterly red in the face*

Perhaps we ought to make it a rallying cry for the side of empathy and human decency as well?
