generation gap

Mom: The next time you visit, I need you to look at this letter you got. It was sent to our address.
Me: What is it? Can you just email it to me? I'm not sure when I'll be able to get away from my schoolwork.

Oh, Amul. Don't be silly. How can I email you a letter? It's written on paper.
Mom, if it's important, then can you scan it in and email it to me?
Okay, I can try to do that, but I don't think I'll be able to. Our printer has run out of paper.

*pause* Um, you don't need to print it out. I want you to scan it in, with the scanner, and then email me the file.
This sounds very complex. I will ask Dad to do it, but he said that I shouldn't bother you with this.
Why? What is it?
These people want to reduce your mortgage rate, and it's a very nice offer, but I checked our records and I don't think you have a mortgage with them. Actually, I thought you didn't have a mortgage at all anymore. But I thought that I should show it to you in case you do have an account with them.

I don't have a.... *pause* Mom, that's junk mail.

It's not working, whenever I try to print it, it just stays in the tray.

Mom, just let Dad handle it.

Remind me to tell you about when my grade school teacher made me call my mom and ask her to print out my book report. It took five hours.

ROTFL! Sounds like conversations with my mother about spam.

Aww, I think that's sweet. My mom won't even approach a computer. She uses the 1963 Smith Corona typewriter that she got as a HS graduation present.

That's classic! I'm still giggling!! I would forward to my mom, but she belongs with yours... I'm afraid she wouldn't get it.

hehehe....sorry. i know it is frustrating for you, but it's funny for us!! besides...i have a conversation like this with Pops at least once a month. sans the e-mail, of course. and he tries to read it to me even though he's blind. then he complains that he can't read it because he's blind. it's very abbot and costello.

You don't get humor like Abbot and Costello anymore. At least, not on stage.

*sigh*
