Ah yes, I actually want to see this. Saw a preview at MirrorMask, and it looks like a classic Liberal rant about the "horror" of "McCarthyism". It always amuses me the way Liberals act as if there wasn't a very real reason that the House Unamerican Activities Committee (HUAC) was formed.
To be sure, McCarthy was a nut. Difficult to say how early in the whole thing he went bat shit, but certainly by the end he had become paranoid, quite possibly clinically so. Still, it's a fact that the Government had been infiltrated by Communist spies at all levels, some of them sitting far to close to the President's ear for comfort. It's also a fact that the American Communist Party was on the Soviet payroll. It's also a fact that we've post humously proven with real solid evidence that several of the people executed were in fact guilty of the crimes they were charged with.
So what do you do? At what point do you have to say that the ideals of the Constitution aren't worth committing suicide over? As one Supreme Court Chief Justice is recorded as saying, "The Constitution is not a suicide pact."
