strange dream

Last night I dreamt that I was on a double-decker bus, and rode past the spacious apartment of the people who live over Delta Wireless on the Southwest Corner of Lawrence and Ashland. Inside, [livejournal.com profile] grrremlinski and [livejournal.com profile] laustinthedark were directing some kind of play.

I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've ever dreamed I was taking public transit.

Really? I was just talking to [livejournal.com profile] rambleman about how I used to have recurring nightmares as a kid, involving public transit. Generally, the nightmare was that one of my brothers would get on the train without the rest of the family, or that we would all get on the train and one of my brothers wouldn't make it, thus LOSING HIM FOREVER. They were really scary.

Back when [livejournal.com profile] vocis used her LJ to record dreams, I noticed that she frequently used cell phones in her dreams. While dreams are ephemeral things by nature, I was hard pressed to think of a single dream (or see one in the dream journal I'd been keeping at the time) where I used any kind of technology - computers, cars, TVs, phones of any kind. They existed as object, I mean they'd be scenery, but I never interacted with them. If I needed someone, I'd go find them, and sometimes that'd become the focal point of the dream, the search - [livejournal.com profile] vocis, on the other hand, would just call them. It's an odd concept for me, being so comfortable with the capability of reaching anyone you need to instantly that it suffuses into your dream life....

Also, you must remember that I never used public transit until college. It was never a part of my childhood. On the other hand, I never dream of cars, either.

PS - When I get back, let's schedule some time to go wandering around with our cameras. Just you and me.
